Art Journal cover with Suzi Blu “Ma petite fille”

Good morning,

It’s still raining and we’ve had a massive storm last night. Thank god no damages as we’ve brought everything to safety well in advance.

As I mentioned on FB yesterday, I went totally out of my comfort zone and created a mixed media Journal page.

For somebody like me, that has been creating cards or other items in either cute or vintage and Shabby chic style for the last 8 years, this was a huge challenge.

Not just only did I need to let go of the “square thinking” (meaning that everything has its place and is planned and cut in advance) but also the use of various different materials and “just doing it”-it’s all new to me. Acrylic paint for example had the sole purpose of painting my thrifted furniture until ……well yesterday.

However, I think the outcome is not too bad at all and as they say… it doesn’t need to be pretty but it has to be you. Well this is also a part of me, but definitely one that is still a bit locked away and needs to be freed.

I chose The Suzi Blu stamp “Ma Petite fille” (my little girl) because isn’t there this little girl that has doubts, needs guidance sometimes and is scared of new things, in everyone of us? Then somebody comes and says “take my hand” and you know you’re not alone.

Well….here it is:

and a little close up from a different angle

What I just really love is when the simple looking outlines of the stamp turn into the personality you put into it when coloring it. It is up to you to choose the color of the hair, the eye and even the skin. You can change the hair style because you just paint over it.

So now that I’ve made a start, I will definitely continue, especially with the next new collection of Suzi Blu stamps which we will be releasing shortly.
